
October 9, 2007 -- The Detroit City Council approved a 23-year, $186 million tax incentive package for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC to move forward with its potential Detroit refinery expansion.
The proposed tax incentive package includes a personal property tax exemption of about $176 million over 23 years and up to $10 million in state tax credits as a brownfield site. The incentive packages must now be approved by the State of Michigan.
