Michigan Supports Refinery Expansion
October 25, 2007 – The Michigan State Tax Commission approved a $176 million personal property tax abatement for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC to potentially expand its Detroit refinery.
October 16, 2007 – Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) also announced their support and approval of a $10 million brownfield tax incentive package for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC’s potential expansion of its Detroit refinery. According to the MEDC, the Detroit HOUP project is Michigan’s largest single project in more than a decade.
