Below are maps and public documents pertaining to Marathon’s refinery and pipeline project that will help create a more stable supply of crude oil and, as a result, a more stable supply of petroleum products for Michigan motorists.
New equipment will be installed at the Detroit refinery to process the heavier, more viscous Canadian crude oil delivered by the pipeline. Once completed, the Detroit refinery will increase its capacity from 102,000 barrels per day to 115,000 bpd, creating an additional 400,000 gallons of transportation fuels per day.
A new section of 24-inch pipeline, approximately 29 miles long, will replace an existing 16-inch section of active pipeline that crosses portions of Monroe and Wayne counties. It will parallel the existing utility corridors for approximately 63 percent of the route.
