Thank you for visiting Detroit HOUP.com.
Here you will find information about a Marathon Petroleum Company LP (MPC) refinery project that will create jobs and produce a more stable supply of petroleum products for Michigan motorists.
The Detroit Heavy Oil Upgrade Project (DHOUP) will add new equipment at MPC's Detroit refinery – Michigan's only refinery – to process additional heavy crude oils, such as those from Canada. This project will increase the refinery's capacity from approximately 106,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 120,000 bpd, adding more than 400,000 gallons per day of clean transportation fuel to the marketplace.
Construction on the DHOUP began June 20, 2008 and completion is expected in late 2012.
MPC is committed to openly communicating with neighbors and concerned governmental jurisdictions to keep them informed as the project moves forward.
